HILLARY SAYS: DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO
Why should Hillary Clinton release her tax returns?
During her Senate campaign, Hillary Clinton blasted opponent Rick Lazio for not releasing his tax returns.
The campaign of his Democratic opponent, Hillary Rodham Clinton, criticized the delay, asking whether he was hiding something.
It was clearly a BIG issue for Hillary Clinton and caused Rick Lazio’s team to say at the time: ”The only story here is Mrs. Clinton’s desperation in basing so much of her campaign in attacking Rick on this issue.”
- Barack Obama has already released his tax returns. John McCain has not, and makes no pledge to do so. Once again, the difference between Hillary Clinton and John McCain becomes blurred.
- Hillary Clinton loaned her campaign $5 million from her own money, which happens to be a shared account with Bill Clinton. He has overseas business relations. There are strict rules about where campaign funding can come from. The fact that Hillary Clinton is stalling, shows there is something amiss. Surely we know the Clinton’s have an accountant in place to organize preparation of their taxes. So why the hold up?
- In Iowa, Hillary Clinton said she would ensure an open and transparent government, if elected. Watch video to see how she answers the question that she “would not withhold information from the public, even if it gave ammunition to her critics”.
In the MSNBC Ohio debate, Hillary Clinton danced around the question , but did finally say she would release her tax returns. So why hasn’t she done it?
Clinton’s main excuse was that she was too busy to do it before March 4th and barely had time to sleep. So now that she has a bit of free time, how hard is it to XEROX her tax returns and release them to the public?
KICKING THE DEADLINE FURTHER OUT
Her campaign has now said they will release “on or around April 15th”. We shall see if the deadline gets pushed back again.
- Should we presume she would be more organized (or transparent) with our budget as President, than her seemingly last minute tax filing (withholding of information) indicates?
